Que Sera Sera
Ceramic Art Installation
Project
Some projects begin with a material. This one began with a feeling.
The brief was to create ceramic installations for Que Sera Sera, a restaurant imagined as an Italian grotto—an immersive space where architecture, food and art would blur into one another.
With mushrooms at the heart of the menu and nature at the heart of the interiors, we were invited to shape a world that felt quietly alive.
Drawing a Landscape
Before there was clay, there were drawings.
We imagined caves softened by time. Coral resting beneath shallow waters. Driftwood, bark and clusters of mushrooms finding their way through hidden corners. Every sketch explored how these forms could emerge from the architecture—not as objects placed within a room, but as if they had always belonged there.
The Act of Making
The work unfolded slowly, one piece at a time.
Over a thousand miniature ceramic mushrooms were hand-built in our studio, each carrying its own subtle differences. Together with sculptural coral forms, they grew into installations spanning eight to fifteen feet, wrapping themselves around the space with the quiet rhythm of something found in nature rather than manufactured.
A Space That Breathes
What remained was more than an installation.
It was a collaboration between architecture and ceramics, where every handmade form became part of a larger landscape. The finished space invites people into a world that feels ancient, organic and gently surreal—a place where mushrooms, coral and clay quietly transform a meal into an experience, and where the hand of the maker lingers in every corner.
